The Importance of Research and Investigation Skills

Research and investigation are detrimental to the journalism process and your credibility as a journalist. I just finished my research and investigation skills class at full sail university, in Winter Park Florida. This class made me consider the changing role of investigative journalism by using online research to provide context and relevance to my journalistic work. When looking at a story I can now weigh the validity of data and sources. My search technique is now refined and targeted when looking for new information and online databases and public records. Call I’m able to see new trends and make educate lesions by interpreting raw data.
By honing in your research and investigation skills many areas of journalism can be strengthened. The source motives and bias are easily identified when you have a good grasp on the skills along with legal ramifications of being unethical during the new media research an investigation process are clearly doesn’t when you understand this process. In credible sources can be found by utilizing public databases for non-government, industry, and government sources. What but looking at the freedom of information act transparency and accountability are assessed through this process also.
I cannot urge journalist enough to make sure that they stay on top of their research and investigation skills. This can now be ever-changing within investigative journalism due to the digital age. Characteristics of credible sources credibility of online sources can be changing through time but with excellent skills in this area a journalist can stay on top of them.
