Why journalism?

My main content focus for the program is to take my assignments to help build a possible political campaign in the future while providing informative, engaging, and entertaining content to my audience.

I chose this specific area because it is a great crossover area into politics form Journalism. The New Media Format will allow me to learn technological and creative aspects to strengthen the skills I already have. I love to write but also advocate through doing so. I have a previous B.S. Mass Communications degree specializing in Journalism, but obtained in 2001 so technologically I am a little behind. I have unique perspectives to offer with my combined education and real-life experiences to make a change through my writing. My audience will be intrigued by the perspectives I have to offer and the change to help make. The topics I choose will be helpful to all.

New Media Journalism is suitable for both journalism and free expression. The important element is to be clear about what is fact-based and what is opinion. Both are important but never let your opinion come across as fact unless the facts are backed it and be shown. I am choosing to focus a lot on politics so this is super important to be taken seriously and not just propaganda. I plan to expand my outlook through New Media Journalism by investigating and looking at all political views, not just those I align with, This will help with debate and campaign planning while expanding my mind and knowledge.
